Our History trip to Dunham Massey
On our school trip to Dunham Massey, we were Victorian servants for the day.
In the morning, we helped Mr Adams find the poacher. We walked around Dunham and asked people two important questions; whether they were at Church on Sunday and if they had permission to use the snare? We discovered that Sam was the poacher! Mr Adams wasn’t at all pleased with Sam.
We spent the afternoon being servants, helping to prepare the house for Christmas. We split in to groups and completed the following activities:
- Making pomanders
- Making Christmas cards
- Baking chocolate bread
- Baking biscuits
- Making Christmas crackers
Mr Hughes, the butler, checked our work and he was very pleased with us.
We also met Lady Stamford. She owns the house and she wanted to check what we had been doing. She was extremely pleased with us. We then had a picture taken with Lady Stamford.
We had a wonderful day at Dunham Massey and we were fantastic, hard working servants.
